Shadows
The image on the above left, "Ring Above Words", is capturing the shadow of a silver ring laying on top of an open book. The book the ring is on top of is a Bible that I own. When taking this photo, I wanted to make sure you could still see the shine of the ring. You can still see it because of the way the light is hitting it. I made the image black and white to give a more dramatic effect or mood. When you look at the photo, the focus is the ring and its shadow, but the background of the words is also an important part of it.

Reflections
In the photo on the above left, "Reflecting Words", a spoon is placed on top of a Bible, similar to how the image with the ring was set up. I wanted to use the spoon as a reflecting surface because it doesn't provide a super clear reflection of the words, but you can still see the details of them on the spoon. There is also a sense of depth in this image. You can see in the foreground and part of the middle ground, the words on the page are more clear and in focus. As your eye moves farther back in the photo, the words become more blurred, and you can also see the handle and the rest of the spoon laying. I also made this image black and white to add a dramatic effect.
